Built around a discussion of workforce analytics myths and workforce analytics opportunities, using adopting a market view using real life “day-in-the-trenches” organizational examples, this presentation takes stock of the field’s development while helping organization to focus on what matters most for them as they guide their own workforce analytics developmental journey.

Our Distinguished SpeakersKevin D. Carlson is Professor and Head of the Department of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. Dr. Carlson’s current research focuses on enhancing research methodology in the social sciences to make more systematic research progress. His primary work is in human capital management where he has developed methods for more effectively evaluating recruitment and staffing effectiveness, development of systems of human capital metrics and workforce analytics that drive improved organizational decision making a value creation, turnover functionality, and cost justification of HR interventions and human resource information systems. Dr. Carlson’s work has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Research Methods, and the Journal of Management. He is the current Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Human Resource Information Management (IHRIM) and he speaks frequently throughout the US on topics related to HR Metrics and Workforce Analytics.

Jen Phillips-Kirkwood Sr. Director of Business Intelligence Consulting, for ADP Global Enterprise Services. Jen works with organizations to drive transformation for HR and IT strategy, and the workforces they serve. Throughout her 20 years in consulting, Jen has driven complex, multinational IT, HR and HRO projects. As a member of the esteemed ADP DataCloud team, working with HR business intelligence and Big Data, clients benefit first-hand from her passion for and experience in learning how data science impacts the business and drives tangible results. Her work has cut across industries and sectors, spanning from large, multi-nationals to national organizations pursuing global growth. Within ADP, Jen also plays an active role in training, coaching and developing new talent in innovation and consulting. She serves as a contributor and supporter for social media outlet, TalentCulture, an esteemed HR epicenter of knowledge and thought leadership. She also continues to expand the reach of her consulting expertise on social media through various radio shows, panels, industry forums & summits.
